"(...)Li Zhanyuan was widely known in provinces beyond Shandong especially Henan where he travelled many times to Shaolin Temple in order to strengthen the connection between Qixing Tanglang Quan and Shaolin Boxing that was more evident in the times of Qixing's forefathers such as Wang Yongchun and Fan Xudong. Before his death he worked as the chief coach of the Shaolin Temple Wuguan and Vice Chairman of the Shaolin Temple Association and Consultant Research Association of Shaolin Temple Boxing. He was knighted as Sujia dizi (lay disciple) of the Shaolin Temple, titled: Su Lin Dashi, and paid tribute to his Shaolin heritage by naming his mantis sect: Shaolin Jingang Qixing Tanglang Quan. Essentially Li Zhanyuan's Qixing Tanglang can not be separated from the Qixing Tanglang Quan lineage, though it distinctly emphasises the relationship between Shaolin Qixing Quan and Qixing Tanglang Quan.(...)"
