Juz za kilka dni walka sezonu master de La Hoya i Vargas , panowie nie lubia sie wcale a wcale w zyciu prywatnym ( nawet konferencje prasowa prowadzono z 2 studio telewizyjnych) i chyba tak samo bedzie na ringu.
Ciekawy jestem na kogo stawiacie ? Ja jednak mysle ze Vargas.
Chlopaki dostana takze calkiem niezla kase za wystep , minimalne wynagrodzenie ( moze byc wiecej , czytaj PPV) to 14 m $ dla de la Hoya i 6m$ dla Vargasa

Patient Oscar wins a classic!

Oscar De La Hoya retained the WBC super welterweight, and gained the WBA belt, with a thrilling 11th round TKO victory over Fernando Vargas. The fight was a rarity in that it lived up to its prefight billing, thoroughly satisfying the sold out crowd at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The story of the fight was that Oscar waited and took his punishment, kept throwing the left jab and went in for the kill late in the fight. De La Hoya remarked after the fight that his strategy was, "Patience. Going to the body, fake and use my combos."

If a person only saw the first round, that person would be shocked to have heard that De La Hoya won the bout. Vargas stunned De La Hoya and had him on the ropes. Oscar in fact was almost down to the canvas and appeared to be sitting on the bottom ropes to stay up. He survived the round but had a huge, red welt on his right cheek that suggested trouble ahead for him.

Vargas, however, was not able to capitalize on his explosive first round and De La Hoya won the second round, starting to throw his jab.

The third round saw Oscar in trouble again, hurt on the ropes. A big right by Vargas did most of the damage; and a Vargas jab violently snapped De La Hoya's head back. Oscar, again, came back strong in the fourth round with a variety of jabs, body punches and straight rights.

In the fifth round, it would be Vargas' turn to win the round. De La Hoya again was on the ropes, in trouble by Vargas' assault.

The turning point of the fight was the sixth round. Not because Oscar won the round, as it was a close round in any event. But two things happened. First, Vargas was cut below his right eye, and he started to bleed. The bleeding continued throughout the fight. Second, De La Hoya nailed Vargas with a punch after the bell, showing that he was still in this fight. Oscar controlled most of the rest of the bout.

Oscar landed big punches in the seventh round, and the eighth round was target practice for him. His jab landed with no opposition, which also opened up left and right hooks. Although Vargas looked winded, he reached down deep and won the ninth round by being the busier fighter. The bleeding by his right eye, however, did not stop.

The tenth round saw Oscar wobble Vargas with a big left punch. Oscar was about to unload an uppercut when the bell sounded, saving Fernando.

The eleventh round had De La Hoya unleash a nifty combination to Vargas' body followed by a big left hook. Vargas crashed to the canvas, but rose quickly. Oscar then hit Vargas with a fifteen punch volley that Vargas did not answer. Referee Joe Cortez wisely stopped the fight at 1:48 of the eleventh round.

Although the fight was billed as "Bad Blood," Oscar had nothing but praise for Fernando after the fight. De La Hoya said, "Vargas is very strong. He is a very strong puncher in the ring. I was surprised by how hard he punches."

Vargas was sent to the hospital immediately after the fight, but Main Events, his promoter, and Fernando's managers praised Oscar and mentioned a rematch.

According to Top Rank's Bob Arum, De La Hoya's promoter, a rematch was possible, but not as one of Oscar's next few fights. Arum said Felix Trinidad was Oscar's number one choice to fight next, but if Trinidad kept retired, then Shane Mosley would be a possible opponent. Arum said he would like Vernon Forrest to fight a Hispanic fighter prior to fighting De La Hoya so that Mexican fans would know Forrest better.

Stawialem na Vargasa i do 6 rundy bylem pewien ze "Bad Blood" bedze krwia Oskara , szczegolnie jak zostal zapedzany do lin , jednak boks jak hokej , tu moze wszystko sie zdazyc....no i sie zdarzylo.

Ja stawialem na Oskara dlatego ze Vargas zawsze rohbil na mnie wrazenie tempaka bez strategii wygrywajacego sila bicepsa.
ja w sumie mam troche inne wrazenia niz Seiken bo ja od poczatku widzialem zalete w duzej ruchliwosc na nogach Oskara (piekna praca nog) i ta taktyke "czolgu" Vargasa i dlatego uwazalem ze jezeli Oskar nie padnie kondycyjnie to moze wygrac ta walke rowniez na punkty 8)

Jak najbardziej Oskar to inteligentny boks , jednak kilka akcji w pierwszych rundach , kiedy zostal zapedzany pod liny , nie robily dobrego wrazenia , kompletnie nie wiedzial jak sie bronic , przed co prawda troche brudnymi uderzeniami Vargasa ,nie mial natomiast zadnej konkurencji Oskar na srodku ringi , kiedy zaczynal pracowac na nogach.
Jak by na to nie patrzec , to jest BOKS , na ktory mozna patrzec i patrzec

Niesty nie ogladalem. Jestem zmuszony poczekac na powtorke na DSF, albo Eurosport. Ale Oscara uwielbiam! (Oczywiscie tylko jako bosksera).
