At today's Amazon Challenge it was reportedly announced on National TV that Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza has signed on with the UFC and will compete in the UFC’s middleweight division; this from multiple sources. Though there has been no official word from the UFC as of yet.

Jacare (5-1) has a fierce, aggressive ground game and is considered one of the top grappler's in the world. He actually drew against Randy Couture in an exhibition grappling match last year despite giving up more than 50 pounds to the UFC heavyweight champion. Couture even admitted afterwards that he spent most of the night defending against Jacare rather than being the aggressor.

If this turns out to be official as we suspect, there will be a new contender for the UFC middleweight title in the near future.
