Jesli ktos z Was czytał "Net Force" Toma Clancy'ego zapewne o tym systemie słyszał.

Pencak silat (pronounced pen-chuk) is Indonesias intriguing and deceptive combative
art. Those who see it for the first time may perhaps make a rough comparison with
karate or taekwondo as it is little known in the Western world. Through studying the
art the differences which mark pencak silat apart from other fighting forms become
apparent. The primary purpose of pencak silat is self defence. It is traditionally
evasive and its characteristic responses to an attack are light, fast, and deceptive
movements and to avoid bone-crushing contact with an assailant. This is much the
same strategy and philosophy that is inherent in ju jutsu and aikido. Another
characteristic in common with ju jutsu and aikido is that pencak silat is based on the
use of weapons.
Pencak silat exists in 157 officially recorded styles. Jan de Jong teaches Suci Hati
(Indonesian for pure heart), a middle Javanese style that has equal emphasis on hand
and foot techniques.
Jan de Jong learnt from Soehadi after returning to Indonesia in 1946. It was not a
simple matter of enrolling for lessons. He asked his barber where he could learn
pencak silat. The barber asked why he wanted to learn pencak silat instead of tennis
like other Europeans. It is in my heart to learn he replied. Subsequently the barber
brought another man, Soehadi, to speak to him, who in turn brought another man, and
so on. Jan de Jong was unaware that these men where the leaders of the Suci Hati
aliran (style or school). After a number of months Soehadi returned and said that these
men considered him of good character and acceptable to them for inclusion into their
aliran.
Soehadi and Jan de Jong lost contact with one another when he emigrated to Australia
in 1952. In 1981 Soehadi recognised his former student on television giving a ju jutsu
demonstration in Indonesia. He wrote a letter addressed to, “Jan de Jong, Perth,
Western Australia. Despite the limited address it found its destination. In 1986 Jan
de Jongs students raised the funds to fly Soehardi to Perth for a reunion after 30
years.
When Jan de Jong was a student, his instructors awarded grades when they personally
considered the student to be ready. Through his experience with the pragmatic
grading systems of ju jutsu, aikido and karate, Jan de Jong developed a
comprehensive grading system for his pencak silat.

O walce z kilkoma przeciwnikami:
Being able to disengage from one person in order to move to another is essential in fighting multiple opponents. The trainee is not so committed to applying body pressure and leverage where he cannot make an immediate escape.
As the practitioner finishes off his assailant with a take down and follow-up, he immediately crouches, covers, and assumes the "on guard" stance and posture combinations of his particular style, because another attacker may be on his way in. The assailant that he just took down may not be finished after all. He may have been able to take all that punishment or as in many styles of Silat, he may be feigning his hurt condition, hoping the student drops his defenses and he can surprise re-attack.
O użyciu broni:
No Pentjak Silat system is combatively idealistic, so foolish, or so naïve as to require this exclusive use of empty hand tactics for solving all combative situations.
