Napisano Ponad rok temu
It is now confirmed . . . Royce Gracie v Hidehiko Yoshida in Pride Shockwave ! ! ! September 28th in Tokyo, Japan. The Mega Shockwave event is a joint Pride & K1 venture and will be the largest MMA event ever, it will take place in an open air stadium with a capacity for 100,000 spectators and it is reserved for the 28,29 & 30th in the case of rain.
Pride promoters felt that they had to give their public the biggest show ever, in order to achieve that they secured the presence of the legendary Royce Gracie. Gracie is scheduled to fight a Japanese Judo star Yoshida. Yoshida was the '92 Barcelona Judo Olympic Gold Medalist at 81KG and the '99 World Judo Champion at 90 KG.
As previously reported by your intrepid columnist, the fight in under special rules requested by Pride:
- Both men will wear a 'Gi'
- No strikes to the head are allowed ever
- At least one fighter has to be standing for striking
- When both fighters are on the ground it becomes a submissions only fight, with no points or advantages
- 2 x 10 minute rounds with no judges decision. In the event of no submission or KO the fight will be a draw
The other big news is that Kid was personally invited by Royce Gracie to cover the 'road to the classic'. In Royce's own words: 'Hang around and document history in making'. Suffice it to say that Kid is beyond excited to be able to cover not only this HUGE event but also a fight of this magnitude.
In addition to the regular fight coverage, we plan to have loads of pre-fight, backstage and post fight info for ADCC readers Worldwide! Stay tuned to Kid's column or check out RoyceGracie.TV for the latest news about Royce and Shockwave.
A special note: Since the announcement of the possibility of this fight being signed we have received a large number of emails on the subject. We have been forwarding all of them to Royce.
Competitors Wanted for Metro Submission Wrestling Championships/MI
Hey Guys, I'm hosting a Submission Wrestling Tournament on Saturday, 9/14. Jiu-Jitsu, Wrestling, and Grappling practitioners are all welcomed. There will be Pro, Amateur and Kids Divisions. There will be cash awards for the Pro Division and team cash awards for the Amateur Division. Atama Kimonos is the Official Sponsor for the event.
The Pro has 2 divisions: Lightweight and Heavyweight. Each division will have at most 16 men (I may allow 1 or 2 additional). The Amateur has 4 divisions: Light, Middle, Heavy, and Super-heavy. If you wish to compete in the Pro, you must contact me as soon as possible before the brackets fill up. I haven't even done much advertising yet and there are now 15 spots left in light and heavy, respectively, and the tournament is still 2 months away.
For more info: visit [link widoczny dla zalogowanych Użytkowników] or call me (734) 678-3833 or Tyrone Gooden (313) 574-1850. Hope to see you guys on 9/14. P.S. Special Guest Appearance by Alexandre 'Xande' Ribeiro and maybe his big brother Saulo Ribeiro. So you may be able to ask them about the new stuff they saw at the Worlds this year.

Przypuszczam ze Yoshida ostro praktykuje BJJ , jednak w parterze , krolem tego swiatka jest Royce.

The idea behind the match is that it's 50 years since Kimura beat Helio Gracie so this is Royce's quest for revenge. Yoshida won a gold medal at the 1992 Olympics in the 78kg
class.

Dodatkowo napisze tylko kto walczy w tej imprezie:
[b]Pride 22[b]
Tadao Yasuda vs Jerome Le Banner
Don Frye vs Cyril Abidi
Bop Sapp vs Tom Erikson
Heath Herring vs Gary Goodridge
Frank Shamrock vs Shungo Oyama
Royce Gracie vs Hidehiko Yoshida
Kazushi Sakuraba vs Mirko Cro-Cop
Jerome Le Banner wezmie udzial ? Hmm, widze ze do Pride sciagaja czolowych zawodnikow K1. I dobrze. Wydaje mi sie ze to jedne z najleprzych rozstawien. Wiele gwiazd wystapi. Praktycznie kazda walka mogla by byc walka glowna. Ken, Heath,Royce,Don,Saku. Gosh. Tutaj nie ma slabych nazwisk. Wszystko to czolowka. Moze czesc z nich ma juz za soba szczyt formy lecz mimo wszystko na pewno posiadaja niemale umiejetnosci i doswiadczenie. Ja spodziewam sie naprawde bardzo wiele po tej gali.
